The Pittsburgh Folk Festival was a major regional highlight for over 50 years, and the Bulgarian Center’s rollicking Saturday night post-Festival party was the most popular event in town. This year we’re hosting our second annual Folk Festival Reunion party that will bring together an assortment of ethnic groups that participated in the Pittsburgh event through the years.
We’re inviting people of all nationalities to come celebrate the many years of camaraderie, memories, great ethnic food, and lively dancing that we all enjoyed at Pittsburgh’s Folk Festival over the years.
Our event will feature:
Live music performed by various ethnic ensembles
An array of favorite Folk Festival foods, including halushki, pierogies, egg rolls, strudels, banitza, and gyuvech.
Displays of memorabilia from past Folk Festivals
Cash bar
Dancing into the wee hours
Music schedule:
8:00 to 9:00 pm & 9:30 to 10:30 pm – Otets Paissii Band
11:00 pm to midnight – Srpski Sinovi Folk Orchestra
12:30 to 1:30 am – Jam session. Musicians with instruments are welcome to take part, and will receive free admission to the party. Please contact Julie Rhyner at julie.rhyner@gmail.com if you’re interested.
We’re hoping some of you are willing to showcase your decades’ worth of festival artifacts and photos. We promise we’ll take good care of your memorabilia (copies are welcome).
